Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience to successfully complete the essential requirements of the role
- 4-7 years’ related law firm experience with hands on experience
- Strong knowledge and previous experience in trust accounting is required
- Technically savvy, with demonstrated skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, with willingness to learn new software and applications
- Experience working with Elite Enterprise is an asset
Key Responsibilities
- Processing invoices in accordance with Firm protocol
- Entering vouchers o Adding GL accounts and reviewing GL accounts on vouchers
- Understanding of taxes for accounts payable
- Printing cheques
- Obtaining signatures and approvals
- Entering receipts from different sources and preparing deposits
- Entering information for Trust disbursements, disbursing funds by cheques and electronically
- Time sensitive, fast paced
- Taking information from lawyers and assistants in order to run a Conflicts report
- Running conflicts reports and distributing them to the appropriate people
- Managing responses from lawyers and assistants
- Providing coverage for vacations and during time periods when members of the team have project responsibilities
- Performs filing duties as it relates to duties and responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned
