Key Responsibilities
- Manage tort files from start to settlement, ensuring accuracy and efficiency throughout the process.
- Apply knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure to maintain compliance and handle litigation tasks effectively.
- Handle all aspects of file management, including opening, reviewing, scheduling, and maintaining thorough and organized records.
- Draft and prepare essential legal documents, such as Mediation Briefs, Affidavits of Documents, and Examinations for Discovery.
- Schedule and coordinate mediations, examinations, and court appearances with precision.
- Maintain detailed records and client correspondence using TimeMatters, Filevine, PC Law, and PrimaFact software.
- Conduct legal research and assist in preparing for trials or hearings when required.
- Monitor deadlines and limitation periods, ensuring timely filings and adherence to court schedules.
- Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, and court offices to facilitate the smooth progression of files.
- Organize and prepare documents for settlement negotiations and assist in executing settlements.
Qualifications
- 4+ year of experience as a Tort Law Clerk, with proven ability to manage files independently.
- Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and litigation processes.
- Proficiency in legal software such as TimeMatters, Filevine, PC Law, and PrimaFact.
- Excellent drafting skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while being an effective team player.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
