As a Senior Law Clerk, your responsibilities include:
- Carriage of Commercial Real Estate files from beginning to end
- Preparation of all related documents for purchase and sale transactions, mortgage transactions, routine loan transactions and refinancing (on behalf of borrowers from both private and institutional lenders)
- Production of Standard document in relation to larger property acquisitions, dispositions, and financings
- Reviewing title searches and prepare title memorandum, prepare off-title search letters, oversee off-title searches and draft requisition letters and responses
- Dealing directly with clients, financial institutions, municipalities, land registry offices and title insurance companies
- Reviewing and negotiate title insurance policies
- Preparing record books promptly following completion of files
- Producing the highest quality of work
What your Bring:
- 10+ years’ of experience (preferably in a Bay Street firm) as a Real Estate Law Clerk
- Strong knowledge of the real estate transaction process for commercial matters
- Successful completion of a related post-secondary education program in a legal assistant or law clerk program
- ILCO certification
- Proficiency with Teraview is required
- Flexibility to work overtime when needed
- Strong knowledge of title matters
- MS Office Suite of Applications 2013
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Able to work independently
- Ability to problem solve
- Good judgement and decision making
- Strong interpersonal skills
