The ideal candidate for this position must be well-rounded and has experience in Intellectual Property working in a fast-paced law firm. Your responsibilities will include preparing and drafting legal documents, scheduling, managing files, and other general duties.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Intellectual Property Litigation documents according to general instructions
- Preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents
- Understand the rules of the Federal Court of Canada
- Coordinate business travel arrangements within North America and overseas, and submission of expenses for timely reimbursement
- Attending to online filing and prosecution of trade mark applications
- Ordering trademark searches and file histories
- Reviewing pre-bills and supervising the issuance and delivery of bills
- Opening and closing files
- Maintaining daily contact with clients
- Faxing, photocopying, scanning
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- Legal Assistant diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in an Intellectual Property group.
- Depth of legal understanding and knowledge of IP laws, with ability to self-update in view of ongoing changes to IP legislation and practice.
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong time management and prioritizing to meet important deadlines with effectiveness and efficiency.
- Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Ability to work in both a team setting and as an independent under minimal supervision.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize and deliver creative solutions.
- Knowledge of Pattsy and iManage or comparable document management system.
