Key Responsibilities
- General duties including opening and maintaining e-files, drafting and sending correspondence
- Manage commercial, including commercial leasing, and residential real estate transactions including preparation of closing documents
- Manage commercial and residential mortgage financing transactions, including acting for lender, preparing closing/security documents
- Review agreement of purchase and sale and, in the case of the financings, commitment letter, prepare closing agenda and list of closing documents
- Conduct corporate searches, title and off-title searches
- Prepare, including responses to, requisition letters with respect to real estate transactions and financing transactions, and closing documents
- Order and negotiate owner and lender title insurance policies
- Prepare e-reg documents in Teraview
- Prepare reporting letters and closing books for delivery to client
- Co-ordinate with accounting department/bank
- Administer escrow deposits for condominium development projects
- Reports monthly to surety company with respect to condominium deposits
- Ongoing verbal and written communication with lawyers/law clerks, legal assistants and clients;
- Strong time management skills to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
- Other tasks are reasonably required
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position in a Condominium Real Estate Law practice.
- Law Clerk, Paralegal or Legal Assistant Diploma
- Strong technical skills in Teraview, PC Law, and MS Office (Word , Excel and Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
