Salary: $72K
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operation of busy Intellectual Property litigation practices
- Administrative tasks such as answering/directing phone calls, monitoring email inboxes and incoming mail, releasing dockets, preparing expense reports and monthly bills
- Manage and coordinate lawyers’ calendars and schedules, including coordinating meetings, calls and travel, facilitating bring-forward systems, overseeing deadlines and court appearances
- Assemble and file court documents for all levels of court but primarily the Federal Court
- Prepare and organize materials for trial
- Create ShareFile links to manage and share documents digitally Adhere to firm processes regarding new matter opening and closing procedures
- Additional responsibilities may include research tasks
- Interacting with clients, opposing counsel or others on behalf of lawyers
- Maintain lawyer contacts including inputting and updating information
- Assist with new and existing programs, including the annual holiday card program
Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience working as an Intellectual Property Litigation Legal Assistant is required
- Law Clerk Certificate / Diploma (or equivalent) is an asset
- Knowledge of and experience with Federal Court processes is required
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Document Management Systems, Digital Dictation software (Phillips Speech Exec.) and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to effectively use Automated Civil Litigation (ACL), Accounting Software (Lighthouse or 3E), Docket Software (Carpe Diem) and Electronic Court Filing applications (CaseLines)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
