Salary: Up to $65K
Key Responsibilities
- Produce/organize month-end financial reports; review for accuracy and cross reference with previous month, note and investigate any discrepancies
- Prepare financial reports for firm and management company by analyzing, collecting, and condensing account trends and information
- Use a system to account for the financial transactions made by firm/management company to establish appropriate chart of accounts
- Enter financial transactions such as cheques, transfers and cash receipts for Trust and General account, client bills and write-offs
- Reconcile all applicable accounts including trust, general, Oncorp, Teranet, MTO
- Work with management team on any potential leasing arrangements
- Ensure all financial actions comply with local, legal and LSO requirements
- Year-end preparations for annual review
- Obtain investment instructions from lawyers and submit to bank based on current legal requirements
- Liaise with management and bank account manager
- Track and manage financial data
- Any other tasks that arise as needed
- Assist Chief Operating Officer with daily firm administration including but not limited to setting up new employees on accounting system
- Train new employees in accounting procedures; conduct periodic training sessions for firm members
- Participate in special projects and/or event planning as they arise
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years relevant working experience
- Law firm experience a must
- Acumin Legal Accounting experience an asset
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and clearly with other firm members
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines without supervision
- Familiarity with general principles of accounting; strong understanding of math and numbers
- A team player who can also work independently
- The ability to work on multiple projects while adhering to tight deadlines and use various financial transactions such accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Good data entry skills
