Salary: Up to $120K
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with US and Canadian senior management to align HR strategies with organizational goals
- Develop and implement workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial labor laws throughout the employment lifecycle
- Oversee recruitment processes for business professionals, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding
- Create career development paths and training programs for employees in alignment with US-based department leaders, when applicable
- Works with the US-based HRBPs to deliver goal-setting, performance management and year-end evaluations to the Canadian business professionals
- Respond to general employee inquiries on all HR related topics
- Coach managers on difficult and/or developmental conversations conversions for direct reports and effective leadership
- Address employee concerns, grievances, and disciplinary matters
- Conduct exit interviews of support staff and paralegals
- Oversee the day-to-day administration of the Canadian benefits program and conduct benefits orientation for Canadian new hires
- Administer Leave of Absences
- Make recommendations to the Senior Benefits Manager and CHRO for enhancements to the benefits program based on benchmarking and market data
- Make recommendations for job grading and salary recommendations for Business Professional new hires and annual compensation
- Ensure competitive compensation aligned with industry standards and identify relevant compensation surveys for benchmarking.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to address organizational needs
- Partner with the Office Managers, Office Managing Partners, and the Director of Canadian Operations on HR issues and initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years of HR Generalist or HR Manager experience
- Experience working in a global law firm or professional services organization is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec employment legislation and requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships proactively
- Comfortable working independently with the ability to discretely handle multiple competing interests in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; preferred experience with Oracle Fusion HCM
