Salary: Up to $68K
Key Responsibilities
- Support lawyers in all aspects of a file while taking initiative in determining next steps
- Prepare Affidavits of Documents, arrange discoveries and mediations, and prepare related documentation (including draft mediation briefs)
- Prepare and substantively draft correspondence and legal documents, including pleadings, motion records, and trial briefs
- Ensure all relevant information and documents are stored in the Document Management System (NetDocs) and litigation management system (ACL)
- Work with e-discovery software (Discovery Local/Reveal and CaseMap)
- Run accounts using accounting software (Acumin) and clients’ external accounting systems
- Track all deadlines associated with various matters carried by the lawyers
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma from a recognised law clerk program
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a commercial litigation environment
- Thorough understanding of relevant rules of court and legal terminology
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and time management skills
- Proven ability to handle changing and competing priorities
- Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong proofreading skills and keen attention to detail
- Strong technical skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Kofax PDF, and Case Center
- Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
