Salary: Up to $130K
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with commentary tailored for legal practice management.
- Lead and support the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning process across departments.
- Monitor and interpret metrics such as billings, WIP, collections, utilization, realization, and other legal-specific KPIs.
- Provide insights into profitability; recommend strategies for margin improvement.
- Assist in month-end close, variance analysis, and preparation of financial statements in accordance with ASPE.
- Develop and enhance financial models related to partner compensation, firm profitability, and strategic initiatives.
- Identify and assess opportunities to apply AI and automation tools to improve forecasting, reporting, billing, or workflow efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to evaluate and implement AI-driven financial solutions.
- Maintain and improve reporting tools and dashboards; ensure data quality across the Firm.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, firm policies and financial reporting standards.
Qualifications
- CPA designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CMA; or CPA, CGA) required and in good standing.
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong understanding of law firm financial metrics (realization, utilization, WIP, A/R, etc.).
- Understanding of AI technologies and their applications in finance or legal operations (e.g., predictive analytics, document automation, intelligent reporting, etc.).
- Proven experience preparing and presenting financial data to non-finance professionals.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills, with the ability to distill complex financial data into digestible visuals and narratives.
- Experience with legal or financial systems such as Elite 3E, Aderant, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of data visualization and business intelligence tools is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across the firm.
- Demonstrated ability to think analytically and proactively identify opportunities for process improvement.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
