Salary: Up to $85K
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, revise, and finalize legal documents and correspondence for commercial litigation matters with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate court filings and service of documents across various jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of client files—both digital and hard copy—ensuring information is up to date and securely maintained.
- Monitor critical timelines, limitation periods, and hearing dates while managing lawyers’ calendars and schedules.
- Liaise professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other stakeholders to relay messages, obtain information, or provide updates.
- Support lawyers with administrative tasks including docketing, expense tracking, file opening/closing, and billing processes.
- Contribute to the smooth functioning of the litigation team through dependable support and proactive problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a legal assistant in a commercial litigation practice.
- Familiarity with Ontario’s Rules of Civil Procedure and confident navigating court systems at all levels.
- Skilled in drafting and formatting litigation documents, including pleadings, motion records, and affidavits.
- Comfortable using legal tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, ACL, and LegalEssence; experience with Aderant is an asset.
- Holds a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma (or equivalent education and experience).
- Exceptional communication skills—both written and verbal—with a polished and client-focused approach.
- Thrives in fast-paced environments, with strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple demands.
- Team-oriented and dependable, with a proactive mindset and meticulous attention to detail.
