Key Responsibilities
- Communication with Clients, lawyers, and team members, on assigned cases and files.
- Provide support with various litigation matters; including drafting client correspondence, retainer agreements, preparing pleadings, motion records, Affidavits of Documents, preparing Bill of Costs, etc.
- Drafting/proofreading, serving, and filing legal documents.
- Review of discovery undertakings, lawyer notes, transcripts, and tasks related to Answers and Undertakings.
- Assistance with Preparation for trial, including pre-trial memorandum, organizing for trial, arranging witnesses, and pre-hearing and Hearing preparation.
- Organize and maintain office files and records in accordance with the firm’s procedures.
- Coordinating with court offices and scheduling appointments.
- Administrative tasks include calendar management, client meetings, closing/opening files, and timekeeping.
- Monthly Billing.
- Working with various programs such as CaseLines, ONe-key, Unity, etc. as required.
- Ability to work independently, as well as bring a positive teamwork attitude to the workplace.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario as a Litigation Law Clerk.
- Fluency in English is required, and Mandarin language skills are an asset.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, PCLaw, and Caselines.
- Professional, flexible attitude, with strong commitment to client service.
- Excellent communication. Interpersonal & time management skills.
