Senior Family Law Clerk
Salary: up to $90K

Qualifications
- Community College Diploma or equivalent and/or is working towards their qualifications
- Minimum 5 + years working as Legal Assistant or Law Clerk
- Experience with software: Divorcemate, PCLaw, Word and Outlook
- A keen understanding of Family Law Rules
- Strong understanding of legal terminology
- Docketing and time entry experience are definite assets
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, NFP statements and SSAG calculations
- Preparation of various pleadings and court documents (including drafting uncontested divorce application, Affidavit of Documents, and etc.)
- Draft orders, briefs, confirmations, pension forms, and other court materials
- Drafting and collating of court materials (motions, factums, financial briefs, continuing records and etc.)
- Docketing your time
- Trial preparation
- Engaging in file management (e.g. opening files, file reviews and etc.)
- Attending client meetings to take notes and prepare the file for opening or to provide further instructions on the file
- Meeting with lawyers regularly to ensure all files are up to date
- Keeping informed on new policies, legislation and Rules, and providing oral and written updated communications to the lawyers and the assistants
- Flexibility to obtain and gather information from clients outside of the office
- Contacting clients and opposing counsel office for scheduling and information gathering
- Preparing, and editing correspondence, memoranda, reports, forms and other documentation
- General administrative duties, including but not limited to scanning, filing, photocopying, scheduling appointments, perform administrative duties with respect to accounting, opening and closing files, docketing, billing and etc.
- Managing key dates and update calendars for lawyers, including appointments, due dates and client-related activities
- Answering the telephone, route callers, take messages and provide routine information to callers
- Ensuring complete and accurate filing (hard copy and electronic copy ) of all legal documents
- Other duties as assigned
