An established Ontario law firm recognized for its litigation practice is seeking an Insurance Litigation Associate to join its Toronto office. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer who enjoys advocacy, client interaction, and managing complex dispute files while working alongside experienced litigators in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
The successful candidate will represent insurers, businesses, and institutional clients in a wide variety of contentious matters, gaining hands-on experience with sophisticated litigation files and meaningful courtroom exposure.
Position Overview
Associates are actively involved in all aspects of litigation, from file inception through resolution. The role offers direct responsibility for client communication, legal strategy development, discoveries, mediations, motions, and trial preparation.

Core Responsibilities
The lawyer selected for this position will:
Handle litigation matters from intake through final resolution
Prepare pleadings, affidavits, motion records, legal opinions, and mediation materials
Conduct examinations for discovery and witness interviews
Attend mediations, pre-trials, case conferences, motions, and court appearances
Analyze liability, damages, and insurance coverage issues
Advise insurer and corporate clients regarding litigation strategy
Work closely with adjusters, experts, investigators, and opposing counsel
Conduct legal research and prepare written submissions
Negotiate settlements and participate in alternative dispute resolution processes
Assist with trial planning, preparation, and advocacy
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
At least two years of post-call litigation experience
Experience in insurance defence, civil litigation, personal injury, or related practice areas
Strong understanding of Ontario court procedures and litigation rules
Ability to independently manage assigned files
Excellent drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong oral advocacy and client communication abilities
Effective file management and organizational skills
