Legal Assistant – Regulatory/Litigation (3548) Full Time

Job Description

Our client is a mid-sized law firm in Downtown Toronto and is currently seeking a Legal Assistant with a minimum of 5 years experience to support 3 lawyers in the area of employment law and civil litigation. The successful candidate will possess excellent keyboarding skills for transcription as well as superb organizational and communication skills. Salary: Up to $65K

Primary Duties Include

  • Digital Dictation, docket entry, preparation of accounts, opening files/closing Files, organizing and maintaining files
  • Preparation and editing of correspondence and legal documents including Pleadings, Orders, Consents/Authorizations, Affidavit of Documents, Motion Records, Pre-Trial Briefs and Trial Records
  • Review documentation and claims from new files
  • Assist with authorizations, undertakings, discoveries and productions
  • Opening and closing files
  • Communicating professionally with clients and all levels of staff
  • Other administrative duties as required
Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of civil litigation experience in a law firm
  • Legal assistant diploma plus additional courses an asset
  • Experience with filings in the Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Justice, Divisional Court and Court of Appeal
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask while paying attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong technical skills
