Legal Assistant/Clerk – Insurance Defence (3532) Full Time

Our client in Downtown Toronto is rapidly expanding and seeking a professional, bright, confident and super organized Legal Assistant/Clerk to work for a busy Associate of the firm. This is a hybrid role and the ideal candidate will have at least 2+ of Insurance Defence experience, the ability to follow direction well and be open to learning. Salary: Based on experience

Primary Duties Include

  • Preparation and editing of correspondence and legal documents (including motion records, pre-trial/mediation memos, pleadings, affidavits of documents, etc.)
  • Review documentation and claims from new files
  • Organize and request productions and medical documentation from clients 
  • Assist with authorizations, undertakings, discoveries and productions
  • Opening and closing files
  • Maintaining daily contact with clients
  • Other general duties as required
  Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Insurance Defence experience in a law firm
  • Strong technical skills (including Microsoft Office, dicta, Primafact)
  • Legal assistant diploma plus additional courses an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team oriented atmosphere
