Primary Duties Include

  • Managing incoming mail and emails
  • Drafting litigation documents
  • File Summaries, client intake, opening and closing files
  • Prepare, transcribe and edit correspondence and legal documents
  • Organize and expedite flow of work
  • Review documentation and claims as well as organize and maintain client files
  • Handle administrative details with respect to accounting, docketing and expenses
  • Monitor and maintain tickler systems, schedules and calendars
  • Perform administrative duties and other general duties as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-4 years of commercial law experience
  • Legal Assistant diploma plus additional courses an asset
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients and lawyers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Detail oriented individual with good proofreading and excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • Strong technical skills (including Microsoft Office)
