Primary Duties Include

  • Preparing and filing trademark applications, title documents and change of address information with CIPO
  • Administering foreign filing reminders 
  • Reporting notice of abandonment to clients, advertisement of applications, notices of allowance
  • Preparing statements of opposition, instruction letters to foreign associates and supporting documents
  • Investigating references in search reports
  • Coordinating Statements of Use and post registration documents with foreign counsel
  • Entering new due dates and checking for renewal certificates
  • Reporting examiner reports and suggesting responses to goods and services objections
  • Other duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Trademark law
  • Completion of a post-secondary legal assistant/law clerk program
  • High proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PATTSY
  • Familiarity with minute books and corporate terms
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of a corporate database
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and have the ability to take initiative
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary
