Senior Law Clerk – Wills & Estates (3206) Full Time

Primary Duties Include

  • Work closely with lawyers on Estate Planning, Estate Administration, and Estate Litigation files;
  • Prepare court documents for Applications for Certificates of Appointment of Estate Trustee and Estate Information Returns; trust annual resolutions;
  • Assist with Estate Litigation files, including preparing court documents and supporting litigation lawyers;
  • Prepare, review and analyze Estate Accounts, documentation for Passing of Accounts and Estate Account summaries;
  • Prepare written correspondence and liaise with Estate Trustees, Beneficiaries, Government Bodies, and Financial Institutions about ongoing Estate Administration matters; Wills (including multiple Wills), Powers of Attorney, Trust agreements and all relevant correspondence relating thereto
  • Maintain Wills and Trusts databases and Wills vault;
  • Attend client meetings, take instructions, and participate in discussions about Wills and Powers of Attorney, Estate Administration, Estate Accounts, and Estate Litigation;

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience working in Wills & Estates
  • Successful completion of Law Clerk diploma
  • Advanced PC Skills with Word and Excel;
  • Extensive knowledge of legal procedures;
  • Strong mentorship and leadership abilities;
  • Takes initiative and has the ability to use good judgment;
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to meet timely deadlines and ensure appropriate response times;
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
  • Dedicated to providing excellent service with ability to manage multiple internal clients and be adaptable to the needs of each
