Salary: $55K - $60K

Primary Duties Include

  • Drafting, preparing and applying proofreading and editing skills to legal documents in a residential real estate practice and correspondence on behalf of lawyer
  • Preparing demand letters and notices of sale
  • Perform independently all tasks related to the purchase or sale of residential real estate; including closing transaction, searches, financing and title insurance, reporting to client and financial institution
  • Refinancing of residential homes
  • Power of sales and resale transactions of timeshares
  • Liaising with clients to obtain information and instructions
  • Entering dockets and preparing accounts
  • Assist in managing the lawyer’s practice including opening files, filing, arranging meetings, scheduling hearing dates, arranging travel, etc.
  • Coordinating and monitoring administrative functions to ensure completion of work accurately and in a timely manner
    Managing bring forward system and keeping lawyer apprised of matters in-office

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Real Estate law; preferably in Residential Real Estate
  • Legal Assistant diploma
  • Strong technical skills with working knowledge of legal software and standard software (Word 2007, Excel, Outlook, Styles, Teraview and Conveyancer)
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills as well as above average attention to detail
    Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
