Salary: Based On Experience

Primary Duties Include

  • Prepare court materials in support of contentious and litigious estate matters including contested passing of accounts, applications for advice and direction, guardianship applications, variations of trust, etc.
  • Administer the estates of deceased persons, incapable persona, inter-vivo and testamentary trusts
  • Organize and manage estate administration files, including the preparation of court documents for certificate of Appointment to Estate Trustee applications and related estate administration documents
  • Review estate accounts prepared by external providers
  • Direct communication and correspondence with clients, government ministries and/or agencies, financial institutions and other third parties
  • Maintain wills vault and manage progress charts related to ongoing and/or pending files
  • Docketing, accounting and other administrative duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Estates Law
  • ILCO Certificate and/or Law Clerk Diploma
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office
  • Must have extensive knowledge of in estate administration (especially large and complex estates)
  • Will and trust drafting capabilities
  • Knowledge and experience in estate accounting
  • Working knowledge of taxation issues related to trusts and estates
  • Excellent organizational, communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment or independently
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines
