The Ontario College of Pharmacists is the registering and regulating body for the profession of pharmacy practice in Ontario. The College plays a key role in safeguarding our health care system by regulating pharmacy practice in Ontario; the College helps to ensure that the public receives quality pharmaceutical service and care. The mandate of the College is to serve and protect the public. To continue to deliver on its mandate, the College is currently recruiting to fill the newly created position of Manager, Legal Conduct.
Reporting to the Deputy Registrar/Director, Conduct, you will manage our Legal Conduct Team. As the Manager, Legal Conduct you will be responsible for carrying out various regulatory functions and duties of the College in accordance with the governing legislation. You must be prepared to handle a broad spectrum of matters including contentious matters as well as conducting advocacy. You will provide leadership, training and guidance on the legal implications of activities within the Investigations and Resolutions department. You will build and manage a legal team of in-house and external counsel to provide legal support and professional advice on intakes, investigations, hearings and other related matters. In this capacity, you must be prepared to manage the prosecution of cases referred to Discipline panels. You will support the efforts of the Director Conduct/Deputy Register, as required, by completing legal research and analysis, and other assigned projects of a legal nature respecting professional and proprietary conduct.
Our Ideal Candidate
You possess a J.D./L.L.B degree and a license in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada. You have 10+ years’ experience in a legal or investigative setting coupled with 5+ years of Management experience. You will ideally have a background and working knowledge of the Regulated Health Professionals Act and other statutes, laws and governing regulations governing the practice of Pharmacy. Experience in the administrative law and professional discipline would also be an asset. Your ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment will be complemented by exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
