Law Clerk – Real Estate (2955) Full Time

Salary: $55K+

Primary Duties Include

  • Opening and maintaining files, drafting and sending correspondence, etc.  
  • Providing support for acquisitions and sales of various types of commercial properties, sales of condominium developments, financing and re-financing transactions and land development matters
  • Ordering and reviewing of title searches, search responses and summaries  
  • Preparing requisition letters and responses for purchase transactions
  • Reviewing statement of adjustments provided by vendor ordering and reviewing corporate searches including litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency
  • Preparing response to requisitions for sales transactions   
  • Attending to clean-up title and other requisitions, as required    
  • Preparing and updating closing agendas 
  • Preparing draft statements of adjustments
  • Coordinating generally with client and other counsel to ensure a timely closing
  • Preparing officer’s certificates, resolutions and opinions for review by lawyer
  • Arranging for execution of documents by client     
  • Entering time charges on a timely basis
  • Other duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of Real Estate experience
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills as well as the ability to work independently
  • A high level of attention to detail is required
  • Must be proficient in PC Law, Tera view, Conveyancer
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required
  • Must have experience in all forms of residential real-estate files such as purchases, sales, mortgages and refinancing
  • Must be able to manage and complete residential real estate files (purchases, sales and mortgages) from start to finish independently
  • Deal directly with clients, financial institutions, municipalities, land registry offices and title insurance companies in a professional manner
  • Must be able to handle a high volume of files in a proficient and efficient manner
