Salary: $60K - $70K

Primary Duties Include

  • Preparing materials  including summaries of witness statements, chronologies of facts and/or documents for motions and hearings
  • Assisting lawyers with the preparation of witnesses for examination, cross-examination and hearings
  • Coordinating the serving and filing of documents for tribunal or court
  • Liaising with other members of the Litigation group
  • Preparing for and attending at select hearings
  • Drafting subpoenas, summons to witness, and notices of examination
  • Compiling factual summaries of documents in the record
  • Conducting searches in transcripts and evidence databases
  • Reviewing documents for relevance, privilege, and case issues
  • Meeting with lawyers to take instruction and direction
  • Other duties as required  

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • University degree or successful completion of a Law Clerk certificate/diploma
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience as a litigation law clerk
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of civil procedure and evidence law
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to keep current on changes in legislation and government policy
  • Ability to read and summarize documents
  • Proven accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to time-manage and prioritize
