Located conveniently in the Downtown Financial district, this firm is seeking to hire a Legal Assistant for their Real Estate department. The ideal candidates must have 3+ years of Property Development and Commercial experience. Responsibilities will include a variety of legal administrative duties, including preparation of legal documents and correspondence. Strong administrative and organizational skills are essential. Candidates must also show initiative, be able to work with minimal supervision and work effectively as part of a team. Salary: $55K-$60K

Primary Duties Include

  • Drafting, preparing and applying proofreading and editing skills to legal documents in a mortgage enforcement practice and correspondence on behalf of lawyer 
  • Preparing demand letters and notices of sale 
  • Liaising with clients to obtain information and instructions 
  • Entering dockets and preparing accounts
  • Assist in managing the lawyer’s practice including opening files, filing, arranging meetings, scheduling hearing dates, arranging travel, etc.
  • Coordinating and monitoring administrative functions to ensure completion of work accurately and in a timely manner 
  • Managing bring forward system and keeping lawyer apprised of matters in-office   

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of Commercial Real Estate & Property Development experience as a Legal Assistant Floater
  • Legal Assistant diploma
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills as well as above average attention to detail 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Strong technical skills with working knowledge of legal software and standard software (Word 2007, Excel, Outlook, Styles, Teraview and Conveyancer)
