Legal Assistant – Patent/Litigation (3386) Full Time

Job Description

Our client is a large business law firm with their head office located in the downtown core. They are currently seeking an experienced patent and trademark legal assistant with at least 3-5 years of experience. A strong attention to detail and technical skills are required. $60K - $65K

Primary Duties Include

  • Preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents
  • Attending to online filing and prosecution of trade mark applications
  • Ordering trademark searches and file histories
  • Reviewing pre-bills and supervising the issuance and delivery of bills
  • Opening and closing files
  • Maintaining daily contact with clients
  • Faxing, photocopying, scanning
  • Other duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of Trademark and Patent experience within a law firm
  • Ability to communicate effectively with firm members and clients, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to produce a high quality and quantity of work, occasionally under tight timelines
  • Knowledge of both Canadian and Foreign Patent and Trademark practices
  • Working knowledge of Inprotech would be an asset
  • Capacity to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and redefine priorities when necessary
