Law Clerk – Family Law (2991) Full Time

Job Description

Our client, one of Toronto's distinguished boutique law firms specializing in family law, is looking to hire a Family Law clerk to work in their office located in the prestigious shopping district of Yorkville. The ideal candidates will have 3+ years of Family law experience working with correspondence, financial statements, court documents, etc. Don't miss your chance and apply today!  

Salary: Up to $55K

Primary Duties Include

  • Preparation and drafting of correspondence and legal documents (including applications, affidavits, separation agreements, parenting plans, etc.)
  • Complete Affidavit of Documents and disclosure briefs and understand issues of relevance and privilege
  • Complete basic financial tracing exercises;
  • Some experience in addressing division of defined benefit and defined contribution pensions and comprehension of difference between the two
  • Calendar/schedule management
  • Arrange meetings, court attendances, etc.
  • Read and understand income tax returns for self-employed individuals and issues of personal benefits
  • Maintaining daily contact with clients in a professional manner
  • Maintain and organize client files
  • Other general duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Family Law experience
  • Outlook, Amicus and DivorceMate
  • Law Clerk/ILCO Certification
  • Strong technical skills (Outlook, Amicus and DivorceMate)
  • Solid understanding of Family Law Rules and court filing processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team oriented atmosphere
  • Flexibility to work overtime when necessary
